Who Knew!!!

Tuesday afternoon Lexie was stung by a wasp on her ankle. I gave her benadryl, ice packs, elevated the leg, but to no avail the poor girl just reacts badly to stings. By Wednesday afternoon the swelling and redness was well up her leg, she was getting blisters all over ankle, and she started to run a fever.

After much deliberation we took her to the after hours clinic and our doctor was the one on that night, and she ordered some lab work because it is not a typical reaction. We were sent next door to the hospital to run the lab work while we were waiting for them to take her blood the doctor called us and said that she just did not feel good about this and that Lexie needed to be admitted.

She was admitted for cellulitis. Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection. Her condition required IV anti-biotics. She was hooked up to an IV and a heart monitor (because of her heart history). I was able to stay the whole time with her and Kevin was there through all the needles to talk her through it and calm her down. She was a trooper through it all. She was definitely not herself, when the boys came to see her the next day she wanted to play a game with them, but she wouldn't play she had them move and play for her. She never once asked to get out of bed. She was able to come home the following evening after four doses of IV anti-biotics.

I just wanted to thank Michelle (her primary teacher and my friend) and her kids for coming to visit Lexie and bringing her something new to do. A thank you as well to Curtis and Norma for taking the boys both nights. Thank you to all who called and showed their concern.

We came home just in time for the Fourth of July, her cellulitis is healing and she is on an oral anti-biotic for ten days.

Parades

I love going to parades especially our own city parade. I love the overwhelming sense of community. I love the city we live in and proud to be a part of it. We enjoyed the childrens parade last night and are so proud of the kids and all the adults who took the time to make our wards float spectacular. The float looked incredible. I am proud of my boys for wanting to be a part of it, and for participating both days even though it was extremely hot.

Our ward float took third place, Wooo Hooo, Yeah! We are so proud of you all.

Today as Kevin, Lexie, and I watched the morning parade we were sitting next to a large family group who had homemade signs with the number 10 on them. As each float or car went by the group would hold up their signs and scream and cheer that they were in fact a "10" in their eyes. To watch the float participants as they passed by these signs their countenances would change and they would smile not just a little smile, a huge smile that lit up their eyes. It changed the ones watching that were all around them, there excitement for the parade was contagious. Some of the floats were not the best I had ever seen, but I was amazed over and over at the reaction of the participants. The float participants did not know that they gave every single float that passed by a "10" they just appreciated the cheers and that someone appreciated their efforts to do the best float they could. The kids loved it, the bands loved it, and our little family loved just being next to them. It makes you want to be better just for having been around them. After the parade Kevin and I thanked them over and over for what they did for the participants. They said we have been there and we know they need the boost, and we enjoy it just as much as they do. We also could not help but notice that it definitely increases the candy load when you score every float and car and participant a "10" and we definitely benefited from that as well. It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot from this experience and hope that in the future we can be this kind of example of christ-like love.

Rodeo

We have not been to the rodeo in years, we went this year with Grandma and Grandpa. We had a great time. The cowboys did great and some local guys won some money yeah! The boys favorite was not rodeo related but incredible none the less the motorcycle jumping with crazy death defying stunts. It was all I could do to peek between my fingers covering my eyes. I am so glad I am not the dare devils mother. It was a sold out crowd, extremely loud, and crazy fun.

Carson is just beginning his baseball season. Stay tuned for some play by plays with Carson. As for Zach football season will be here before we know it.

Working Together

Next to our driveway we have had a weed pile where our tent trailer is parked. We decided it was about time to take care of this eye sore. The weeds were cleaned out and the rock was delivered. As a family we spread the rock where it needed to go. The kids were good sports and great help, and it was nice to get a job done together as a family. A shoutout of thanks to Paul our neighbor for all his help as well.

I couldn't help but add this picture, the poor girl just has no bum to keep her pants up. It happens so often now, that she doesn't even notice any more.

The finished project!

Swimming Fun

We went to the outdoor pool on Saturday afternoon and we were the only ones in the entire pool. That was totally awesome until they said because there were not enough people in the pool that they were going to close down. They gave us a little bit longer and Kevin and the kids had a blast. Zach was doing flips off the diving board for the first time.

Take me out to the ball game!

I thought I would take a minute to post some pictures of where we have been in the evenings. We spend a lot of time here. The season is coming to a close, and although we have not had a great season anything can happen at tournament. The boys spend a lot of time working their rally. Baseball for this age of boys is so mental, and I try to tell Zach that everything can change in one inning and to not count themselves out until it is over. I love the social aspect of watching the games with the parents and grandparents who come faithfully to every game. I have made some new friends here and really enjoy watching Zach and supporting him in all that he does. Kevin loves helping the boys in any way that he can. This year he is an assistant coach, so he watches and supports Zach from the field.

I missed the actual contact with the ball, but he did hit it.

The boys constantly had their rally hats, as they try to play catch up in the later innings. This time it almost worked. The boys spirits were high and full of hope.
