Gratitude

This year for Memorial Day, we took our flowers to our loved ones, and on Monday we went to the local city cemetary for their Memorial Day Program. My brother is serving our country right now in Iraq and Afganistan. I am thankful for the sacrifices he and others are making for my behalf, as well as their families. I thought it was a good thing for my children to witness and be a part of. We watched as they raised each flag of the armed services and the veterans stand while they raised their particular flag. It brings tears to my eyes to watch these young and old stand proudly while their flag is raised.

My kids have never seen a 21 gun salute and never heard taps played on the bugle before and it was incredible.

The second half of the day we had a Bar-B-Que with friends, we had a great time and a huge thank you to all who came and participated.

Let's Dance

I love the Dance Festival at the Elementary School. I grew up in this same school district and I did it back then. I love traditions.

This is a picture of me in first grade at my Dance Festival.


The theme this year was Super Heroes. Carson performed to the theme song of "Superman" and Lexie performed to the theme song of "Batman". I love coming to watch and I love when they scan the audience looking for me and that look of relief when we catch each others eyes.

Come One, Come All

On Monday, May 25th Memorial Day. We thought it would be fun to have a Bar-B-Que get-together at the Sports Park that is the park off of 7th South. They have Volleyball nets, Horseshoe Pits, a playground also pavillions. If everyone brings there own dinner and paper products, and a treat to share it could be lots of fun. There is plenty of room for soccer, baseball, or just come visit. We are going to start around 4:00 in the afternoon on Monday. Please pass this on, all are invited.

15 Year Anniversary

15 Years together, "WOW!" This picture is our engagement picture, so many years ago, yet it feels like it just happened. I remember meeting Kevin at Ricks College for the first time, we were in the same ward and he was my home teacher. He was a return missionary. As a whole I had decided not to date RM's anymore because they were all marriage hungry, more than one experience of this. I had a plan I was going to graduate and go to Utah State afterwards.

Kevin and I went on our first date in December of my first semester, we went to a playoff football game in Pocatello we had so much fun and found that we had a great deal in common. A couple more dates before the Christmas Break, and another Date Dance with Kevin's competitor j/k Kevin he was never even in the running. I went home for Christmas break, and came back in January we had a few more dates and by the end of the month we were engaged. We were engaged before either of us had met each others families. We finished the school year in April and were married in May. We had both just started school so we had a long haul in front of us. We have accomplished so many milestones together.

We have three beautiful children, who are our world, and they know it. We are so proud of them. They each have such different distinct strengths and personalities.

I am proud of how far we have come and things we have done, and look forward to the things we have yet to do. We have had the odds against us by getting married so young, (Dr. Laura would have had a cow) but fifteen years later we are still going strong.

Egg Drop

Carson has been participating in Third Grade "May Days" today's May Day activity was an Egg Drop to coincide with a unit they have been covering on Self-esteem. I am especially anxious to hear how this was an self-esteem activity considering the amount of eggs that broke, thus possibly shattering several third grade self-esteems with it (lol).

So here is the big question did the egg survive such a devastating fall off the roof of the school building?

As for Carson and his self-esteem egg activity it could not have been better. His egg container was a highlight of the class and the anticipation of the outcome of his in particular was huge. I am happy for him and it was fun to watch, and of course Kevin was getting the play by play by phone, poor working Dad's miss everything.

I would tell you how we made such a giant oversized birdie from a badminton game on steroids, protecting a very small and extremely fragile, smiley face egg, but many of you have not yet had a third grader and have not yet experienced this fantastic event. So this will have to remain a secret for now, just know that it worked and it was fabulous.

A League of Her Own

Lexie and I were at the baseball fields watching Carson when we went to leave there were girls playing fast pitch softball. Here is our conversation that followed.


Mom: Hey, look Lexie there are girls playing, do you want to play softball when you are older?
Lexie: Do I have too???
Mom: No (a little bit laughing), but let's watch for a minute it is pretty cool.
Lexie: I kinda thought I would just be a dancer girl...
And that was that!
