A Change of Pace

Saturday evening we spent the night in the west desert cooking hot dogs, roasting marshmallows for smores, and a friendly game of Bocci Ball in the dark. It was nice to have a change of pace, enjoy the warmth of a campfire, and enjoy great friends. Zach and Drake went on a hike only to be followed by what seemed like desert creatures (aka Jon and Carson). The boys roasted potato wedges, hot dog buns with a hot dog in it, cheetos, and one Lego guy melted to oblivion, and they would have done more if allowed. I guess boys will be boys. We all had a great time, thanks for the invite Jon and Wendy, lets do it again.

Wednesday Fun

At our Mom and Me Playgroup we had fun tracing our children, and then the kids re-created their outfits with crayons and markers. We had a lot of fun, regardless if it actually resembled the child in the end or not.

Scrapbook Expo

I have been counting down for weeks for the Scrapbook Expo. It is a girls weekend to say the least. We start with going out to lunch on the way in to the expo, spend the day at the expo shopping for great deals and seeing the newest "got to have products". Scrapbooking in between shopping until midnight. Yes, I said midnight and yes they do kick us out. Saturday we do it all again. It is so fun to see friends I have not seen in awhile, spend time with my mom, and catch up on some scrapbooking. I was able to finish 27 pages in all. I had a great time, and even came home with cash leftover. You can't ask for anything better than that.

Football Fun

Kevin took Lexie and Zach to the BYU Blue and White Scrimmage. Before the scrimmage started the kids were able to meet and learn from the players. Zach and Lexie met several players and learned a few new tips. They had a lot of fun, and the weather was just right.

Lexie's Dance Competition

We had our first dance competition on Saturday. This was Lexie's first experience with competing and I didn't know if she would choke or excell under the pressure. Lexie loved everything about it. She loved the costumes, she loved the crowd, and she especially loved performing. When she was finished with her first dance, she kept asking me when she got to do it again. Lexie did great and we are so proud of her.

Bread Update

So since my last bread post, I have made the bread by myself. I did think about calling my friends before I started just to make sure they were home in case of a repeat episode. I did fine and felt confident enough to take the recipe to my moms while we were there for Conference.

My mom, sister-in-law Rachel and I made Chicken braids for dinner and a cream cheese dessert. While we were finishing up, the kids went on a strike with homemade banners and even made one year old Makayla a banner and they all marched and chanted "We want breadsticks! We want breadsticks!" Then my dad and brother got into the action, until I gave in. I was extemely outnumbered. I did say however that the men had to make this batch. My dad and brother were up for the challenge, and of course were successful the first try. They did it all from start to finish minus the clean up of course.

We had a lot of fun, but can I just say one can only eat so much bread. It was a ton of bread. I love making bread, it makes me feel like I have homemaking skills, Wooo Hooo!!!

Conference Weekend

We went to my parents for Conference. It was nice to spend time together as a family. The kids played BINGO with gospel subjects, after two BINGOS we start over. Zach and Carson both won a round. When BINGO wears off they eat the candy. It usually works for at least one whole session.

In between conference sessions we had a mean game of baseball with a sponge soft ball and bat so the playing field is more fair between kids and adults. Grandma was a great sport and every time I took a picture she missed the ball, so she actually was a lot better than the pictures gives her credit for. But, since it is my blog and my perogative I could not resist the missed ball pictures, sorry Mom!

April Fools Day

When I was growing up April Fools Day was a big deal, and my parents were always trying some new pranks on us. This year Kevin and I decided to surprise our kids with a few pranks of our own.

We baricaded their doorways with crepe paper and then filled between the crepe paper and the door with small balloons. I was in charge of crepe paper and Kevin was in charge of the what seemed like a million small balloons, I got the better end for sure. Zach knew right away that it was April Fools Day, but Carson did not know what to think. It was funny to watch their reactions. Kevin bought a new cereal for the kids to try and left it out so that they would see it, that should have been a clue right then and there, especially since they had already been pranked once that morning already.

None of them suspected a thing (I am re-evaluating their intelligence). Kevin had previously opened the cereal from the bottom and replaced the cereal with a new kind of square pretzels. Zach was not happy with being punked again so soon (propably re-evaluating his own intelligence). The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, going to gear up for next year and try some new things.
