Saturday we spent the day at a Mountain Man Rendezvous, it was nice to spend time as a family. My parents go every year and we have not been for quite sometime, it is fun to watch and experience things that happened many years ago, what a difference a few decades makes. A different culture to introduce and share with the kids.

Looks very fun! Where is it?
I am glad that they included the authentic bagpipers that were found at so many of the Mountain man rendezvous in the early days. So many of the get-togethers leave them out now. Most think of the fur-trappers and buffalo hunters, not to mention the medicine men of the Native American tribes.
Someone must have really done their research to find the obscure bagpipers.
They were orginally brought in to help elk hunters call their prey and then were kept on just to make fun of their kilts in the winter time.
Thanks for bringing this little piece of Americana to us!
Nothing like good old family fun!
You are always up to something adventurous and fun! I love it! I've often wondered about taking my kids to that - good to know it was worth it!
What a fun family outing. Jon would have loved the bagpipes.
Blogging is such a good way to keep in touch!! In answer to your question--as much as my body had to recover for the next two days, yes I would run one again. Just knowing how close I was to the two hour mark makes me want to beat that time. It's the competitive nature in me I guess :)
That looks like a blast. You guys are always doing the funnest things...can't wait to see you this weekend!
I missed it this year. totally kicking myself for it. I am suprised you didn't post any loin cloth pics. My personal favorite part of the weekend. I love to go just to see the maternity deerskin dresses and babies dressed up. next year for sure! looks like you had a blast!!
