Rendezvous

Saturday we spent the day at a Mountain Man Rendezvous, it was nice to spend time as a family. My parents go every year and we have not been for quite sometime, it is fun to watch and experience things that happened many years ago, what a difference a few decades makes. A different culture to introduce and share with the kids.

First Day of School

This says it all it's QUIET around here. I picked myself some flowers in honor of the occassion. I love my kids and I enjoy the summer with them, but as they were fighting yesterday, I couldn't help myself, I had to show each of them my back to school happy dance with a huge smile. The back to school happy dance in a later post when I get someone to tape it for me.

Kevin's New Hobby

Scroll Saw projects have become Kevin's new hobby and talent. He gets better and better. His friend Mark got him interested and it has been something they enjoy doing together. They even featured some of their stuff at the Arts in the Park. I was surprised at the wide variety of art displayed using all kinds of mediums. Carson and Lexie had a great time having Mark's son (Jess) draw cartoon pictures of them and making their own art with sidewalk chalk. Kevin met some amazing people, and it is fun to watch his hobby develop.

Paradise!

This past weekend we went camping with my side of the family. We went to a place called Paradise where I went camping as a kid every year till the middle of Junior High. I have not been back since. I wanted to take my kids to this special place that held so many memories for me. It was fun to be with my parents, grandparents, and brothers, the kids had so much fun, and enjoyed the great outdoors and being together.
At ten thousand feet it feels like you can touch the clouds

Carson trying his hardest to look just like Grandpa
Girls can color just about anywhere
My brother Justin (he probably really did lick it)
Lexie and her cousin Makayla they were so cute together and inseparable

Our Staycation

We decided at the last minute that we were going to go camping for three days, a staycation if you will since we were technically about 40 minutes away. It was nice to take a break from the day to day routine and just enjoy each other and the great outdoors. Carson had a permanent grin the entire three days, he is totally in his element in the mountains. All the kids fished and fished and fished, Lexie caught her first fish ever. Kevin hardly got to fish himself since he was busy keeping all the kids fishing poles going, and the poor fish never stood a chance. Grandma came and joined us during the day and it was fun to have my brother Cody and his family join us around the campfire and eat smores, as well as getting to know Kevin's coworker Kurt and his family better. A little campfire watching, smores, popcorn over the fire, fishing, swimming, and tons of family fun it was just what we needed.

Popcorn and camping just go together

Family Night Fun

Kevin's buddy at work (Mark) gave him this great fun attachment and said it would cause hours of free fun for family night and he was right. Not only did it entertain our kids, but the neighborhood kids as well.

Hot Air Balloons

I have wanted to go to the Hot Air Balloons for several years now. All the kids and I got up at 5:15 and were in Provo at 5:55 am when we got there, they had only started to fill one balloon, it was awesome to be there so early and to see the process from the start. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time and can't wait to make this an annual tradition.
