We had an absolutely crazy day. I think I just woke up in a mood, and did not seem to shake it for most of the day. The kids would not cooperate so that we could actually do something fun, and when they finally did Lexie had an appointment with the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor in the middle of the day that messed up my plans, not to mention we were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes and only ten of that was actually with the doctor (post for another day). I took all of the kids with me so that we could go straight to the Scarecrow Festival afterwards, but the appointment took WAAAAAYYYYY to long so Zach had to go to football (for one more week, yeah!). Carson and Lexie had a fun time and enjoyed the many bounce slides and carnival games. We stood in line for 2 hours for the bungee jump all of which I made my own kids wait in line, because I AM one of those mom's that thinks you should hold your own place in line. Many parents would stand in for their kids and then when they got close all these kids came from nowhere to but in front of us and one mother had the gall to tell me how sorry she felt for her husband who had spent his whole time at the festival in that line saving spots for his kids while they enjoyed the other activities. Now the first born in me comes out and I say calmly that my children have waited nearly two hours themselves, because they are the ones who will actually do the bungee jump. WOW! she says to me like I am from another planet, and says that basically her husband is a saint and her son says to me that he must be pretty lucky that his dad loved him enough to stand in line for him. WHAT!!! I had to turn my head before I totally lost it which would not take much because I was already in a mood. I told my kids how proud I was of them for doing it themselves and that is how everyone should do it. They absolutely loved doing the bungee jump and when we were finished 2 hours and 10 minutes later, it was 8:30 pm and the festival was pretty empty. Feeling bad for how many things they missed while waiting in line I said that we would stay until they kicked us out, at 9:00 pm and on a school night (I know, propably a contradiction from the mother who makes her own kids wait in line, now lets them stay out late on a school night that was my guilt coming through for having missed out on so much, now I have guilt for keeping them out late I definitely have guilt issues). On our way out of the festival we ran into Shawn Bradley who played professional basketball, and is from Emery County (we used to live by his brother). I took the kids picture with Shawn he is 7ft. 6in. tall can you even believe that? All in all we had a great time.

My sister lives in Huntington and her husbands family is from there (he went to high school with Shawn Bradley). Anyway, I wonder if you know them. I'll ask you sometime. I'm very impressed with your line standing. Good luck with the late school night guilt:)
You are a good Mom, Jonie. Awesome post. It looks like you had a GREAT time despite a frustrating schedule. Your kids will always remember being able to stay out late on a school night -- it sometimes IS a good thing! Have a better day today.

Good for you to make them stand in line. Kids need to learn sometime how the real world works. Not everything happens when you want it to. Sometimes you have to wait in line. Don't feel too guilty about staying up past bedtime - they'll recover.
I never thought about the fact that I ALWAYS follow the rules being a matter of me being the first born! Way to go standing in line for that long...and teaching your kids a great lesson! You are awesome Jonie!!
WAy to go Jonie for having your kids stand in line...I know that we already had this conversation but I did the same thing...and I think it made it more fun...and worth the wait. You are not a bad mom for letting your kids stay up late....they are only little for so long and that is not an every day thing to do...no worries and no guilt...you so cute...I am glad you guys had fun!
